Hey! Have a look, I’ve been colorblocking today! Well, it’s not really for the trend itself, but I must say that i really enjoyed Jil Sander’s collection that season. Lomb-limbed looks with brightened colors, that was more than an optimistic show!
Anyway, I think that a long skirt is always comfortable to wear, perfect for our summer closet. I’ve chosen a bright green sporty material -if you don’t want/ have time to sew something, than wear a beach wrap like here, remember on the Sartorialist (ideally with no other beachwear stuff). What else? A hat- I don’t have Panama, but you should try to hook earrings and other broaches on it. Looks great!
Skirt, self-made and available at Dawanda, vintage sweater and jewels, wedges from marc o’polo
A simple way to create an elastic skirt;
You need scissors, thread & co., elastic and two material cuts- about 1,20 x 1,40 m
First decide the length of the elastic by measuring it (it has to be 2 -4 cm less than your waist measurement), you’ll cut it later.
Fold the lining fabric on each extremity; bottom & waist (about 4 cm high) and stitch that part together with the upper material.
Hook the safety pin to the end of the elastic, slide it through the casing and grab the material. Once you reached the beginning of the length then sew the elastic…
Turn the casing right side out, sew the length with the sewing machine and finish by hand sewing the hem on the waist.
That material doesn’t need any hem on the extremity, so it can fit any height; that’s really fine!
I wish you a nice week, see you later!
So! Let’s continue the “challenge” -a summer closet composed of pieces we should have from last seasons..
I’ll begin with the shirt. Do you remember Carine Roitfeld’s skirt, the one from Junya Watanabe? -view it there- at the moment I saw it I’ve been fascinated with its pockets, sleeves rest and buttons. The shape itself is amazing. I’ve been completely obsessed with it for a while. Last year I made the experiment: a skirt created from a jacket. Spent a day long to do it. Hmm, the result was not really encouraging- i wish i could find it today to take a pic, hope next time…
SO- (What i wanted to say is that-) if you have been fantasizing about it like me, then you should know that YOU DO have an alternative to the skirt we have never bought.
So try to wrap the sleeves of the shirt like a belt. With a cute bow please.
Because the bow makes the skirt -so i find it’s better here:
And wrap a wide long stuff round the sandals, so that it looks like booties. Just do how to want to!.
Jersey shirt, ? blue shirt from H&M, jewels from Bala Booste & self made, ring from Mango, Shoes from Ash.
Don’t really know if it remains the indian style, but that’s the way i’ve called the shirt of today! There are so many possibilities to custom a tee shirt, that I’ve been hesitating for a while… I’ve chosen that cut, really easy to realize. What about those forgotten objects, your souvenirs brought from your last holidays? They can be foreign coins, plastic flowers or metal pieces..
Tee shirt, Stefanel- Jeans H&m
How you make the tee–
Place one pin on each strategic line and cut!
Add safety pins along the front line, and add one last in the middle of the back -of course you can do the same as on the front if you want to.
Right, what’s next? May you have pieces you would like to recycle as well for summer, please give some ideas here and now! Have a nice weekend everyone!
